Accounts & Finance Coordinator
Balco Balcony Systems Ltd
Location: Taunton, Somerset, with the possibility of hybrid working
Working hours: Part-time, 24 hours per week
Balco is a leading provider of innovative open and glazed balcony systems, managing the full process from design and manufacture through to installation. With our roots and headquarters in Sweden and operations across several European markets, we combine the resources of an international Group with strong local teams and market knowledge.
We are now looking for an experienced and hands-on Accounts & Finance Coordinator to join Balco Balcony Systems Ltd and support our UK construction business.
About the role
This is a practical finance and bookkeeping role rather than an accountant position. You will be responsible for a broad range of transactional finance activities, including accounts payable and receivable, credit control, project cost administration, banking and month-end support.
The position is part-time, working 24 hours per week. We can offer flexibility, with the hours worked either over three full days or spread across five shorter days. Hybrid working will also be possible.
You will work closely with colleagues across Balco UK, Balco Group Finance in Sweden, our project and commercial teams, and external accountants. This is an opportunity to help develop a strong UK-based finance function and improve our financial processes and systems.
Key responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounts payable and receivable, including supplier invoices, payment preparation, customer invoicing and credit control.
Process expenses and company credit-card transactions, ensuring costs are correctly allocated.
Maintain financial records relating to projects, applications for payment, retentions and project costs.
Perform bank reconciliations and support VAT, CIS, payroll and HMRC-related administration.
Support month-end activities, Group reporting and intercompany reconciliations.
Provide financial information and practical support to management, Project Managers, Balco Group Finance and external accountants.
Help review and improve financial processes and systems as the UK finance function develops.
Statutory accounts, corporation tax calculations and specialist tax advice will continue to be handled by Group Finance or external accountants.
About you
You have previous experience in a practical finance, bookkeeping or accounts administration role and are comfortable working across both purchase and sales ledgers, reconciliations, expenses and credit control.
You will also bring:
Good attention to detail and the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Good Excel skills and confidence working with accounting or ERP systems.
A proactive, organised and collaborative approach.
Confidence communicating with colleagues, suppliers, customers and external partners.
Experience within construction, including project costing, applications for payment or retentions, would be beneficial but is not essential. An AAT qualification or similar would also be an advantage.
Balco currently uses systems including iScala, Medius, Mercur and Aaro. Previous experience of these specific systems is not required, provided you are comfortable learning new financial systems.
What we offer
A flexible part-time role that can be arranged around your other commitments.
The possibility of hybrid working.
A varied position with responsibility across several areas of finance.
The opportunity to influence and improve the UK company’s financial processes and ways of working.
Close collaboration with colleagues in the UK and across the wider Balco Group.
The opportunity to work in an established international company focused on innovation, quality and sustainable solutions.
